What is Maternal Mental Health?
Maternal mental health refers to the emotional and psychological well-being of mothers during pregnancy and after childbirth. It is just as important as physical health and affects both moms and their families.
In-person and virtual counseling sessions are by appointment. Clients can receive up to 12 sessions at no charge. Counseling can be provided in Spanish.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
- 1 in 5 mothers experience mental health challenges during pregnancy or after childbirth.
- Conditions like postpartum depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder are common but often go unnoticed or untreated.
- Mental health problems can affect a mother’s ability to bond with her baby, manage daily tasks, and care for herself.
- Untreated mental health issues can impact the entire family, including the child’s long-term development and emotional well-being.
