A Message from the Executive Director

In a world that continues to change at a dizzying pace, The Centre for Women remains a steady, trusted anchor for those who need us most. Every day, our doors open to women and families seeking guidance, empowerment, and healing—and every day, we rise to meet that need.

We are proud to say that The Centre is not just faring well this year—we are thriving.

We are riding the waves of success following our women’s leadership celebration honoring Brooke Shields and celebrating the first anniversary of The Kathy Castor Counseling & Wellness Centre. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community and the tireless commitment of our team, we have expanded our services, opened new doors to care, and reached deeper into underserved neighborhoods. Demand for our programs continues to grow, and we are responding with innovation, compassion, and determination.

As we approach our 50th year of serving the community, The Centre for Women is just getting started.

From mental wellness counseling to workforce development, entrepreneurial training, leadership programming and support for seniors, our impact is real and far-reaching. But the work is far from over. We are meeting today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges.

Like many nonprofits, the uncertainty around traditional government grant funding has sparked some anxiety. We are working diligently to create additional avenues of support. With you by our side, we will continue to rise to meet the challenges ahead —because every woman deserves access to opportunity, dignity, and support.

Cheers,

Ann

Join the Centre for Women’s Success Strategies for Employment Program!

The Centre for Women’s Success Strategies for Employment program, part of Tampa Bay Works for Women, is dedicated to empowering individuals in their professional journeys. We’re seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated career coaches and mentors who are passionate about helping others thrive in the job market. As a coach within this dynamic program, you’ll play a vital role in providing guidance, support, and practical advice to those looking to take their careers to the next level.

What a Career Coach Does:

  • Identify Marketable Skills: Help clients pinpoint and showcase their unique strengths.
  • Career Path Identification: Explore and define each client’s ideal career trajectory.
  • Resume & Cover Letter Writing: Assist with guiding clients to craft compelling, tailored resumes and cover letters.
  • Interview Preparation: Provide valuable guidance and feedback to help clients ace their interviews.

Next Steps to Get Involved:

  1. Send your most recent resume along with a brief introductory paragraph that describes who you are, what your expertise is, and any other information you’d like to share to info@thecentre.org.
  2. Once received, you will be added to the Coach distribution list and invited to the next Coaching Huddle, where you’ll meet your fellow coaches and receive your first assignment.

That’s it! We can’t wait to work with you to make a lasting impact. Let us know if you have any questions or need more details!

We’re proud to team up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation to empower women and strengthen our community. Together, we’re tackling challenges and creating brighter futures—on and off the field! Our team recently participated in the She Is Football Weekend and were honored to be guests at the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Business Women of the Year Celebration. Thanks to Darcie Glazer Kassewitz and Kourtney Sanchez for their friendship and support.

Congratulations to the inductees honored at this year’s Hall of Fame Luncheon presented by the Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women. The Centre for Women has a permanent seat on the commission and is happy to sponsor this event.

Cheers to an unforgettable evening at Hyde Park Village’s TogetHER event, benefiting The Centre for Women!  Over 100 incredible women gathered in a stunning outdoor setting to connect, celebrate, and support one another. The Centre’s Executive Director Ann Madsen inspired us with powerful words, and Java Ingram led a dynamic panel that sparked meaningful conversation. The night ended in true style—with shopping, champagne, and a whole lot of joy.

Celebrating incredible leaders who inspire, uplift, and pave the way for future generations! Happy to attend The Girl Scouts of West Centre Florida Women of Distinction Luncheon which honors the power of courage, confidence, and character. Enjoyed celebrating with an honoree Ann Shaler of Bank of America.

We are so grateful to Gayle Guyardo and @bloom_tv for having our Executive Director, Ann Madsen, on the show!

Thank you, Gayle and Bloom TV, for shining a light on our mission and the work we do to empower women every day!

Some of our Centre staff had the incredible opportunity to attend the She Is Football Women’s Summit, celebrating the power of mentorship and leadership with inspiring female trailblazers.

Huge shoutout to our incredible staff who participated in the She Is Football 5K. Your energy and enthusiasm were unstoppable! A special thank you to our friends at HCI for joining our team and running alongside us—we loved having you on this journey!
