Whether it’s attending college\, starting a trade\, or entering the workforce\, we’ll help you think about your goals and the steps to take\, like finding a job or planning for independent living.\nAssessing Your Current Skills: We’ll take a look at your daily activities and skills. Are you learning new things at home? Understanding where you are now helps plan for where you want to go.\nSetting Goals & Making a Plan: Together\, we’ll create a vision of your future and figure out what new skills you need to develop to reach your goals. Whether it’s trying new jobs or volunteering\, we’ll help you design your path forward.\nFinding Support & Resources: Learn about community programs that can support you\, including Workforce Youth Services\, Vocational Rehabilitation\, and other adult services. DESCRIPTION:This monthly gathering is a dynamic and empowering space for women who find inspiration and connection through creativity. Designed to nurture self-awareness\, resilience\, and a sense of community\, Creative Courage blends educational content\, group discussions\, and experiential arts-based activities to support personal growth and emotional well-being. \nEach session provides: \n\nEducational Content to explore themes like self-expression\, stress management\, and navigating challenges with creativity and courage.\nGroup Discussions to foster connection\, share experiences\, and build mutual support.\nApproachable Arts Activities led by facilitators (and occasional guest artists/co-facilitators)\, using creative exercises such as journaling\, movement\, visual arts\, or storytelling to deepen self-awareness and promote healing.\n\nTherapeutic Goals: \n\nCultivate self-awareness by exploring creative expression.\nBuild resilience through the arts\, learning tools to manage stress and embrace change.\nStrengthen community connections by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.\nEncourage emotional regulation and self-compassion through creative practices.\nEnhance confidence in self-expression and decision-making by embracing one’s unique creative identity.\n\nWeek 1: Laughter to Relieve Anxiety –The first of our Creative Courage workshops uses lighthearted\, playful exercises to help you tap into spontaneity and creative thinking. Learn practical tips and strategies to help you embrace optimism and overcome negativity. Discover the power of positive thinking and how it can lead to a happier tomorrow. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make a positive change in your life!\n\n\n\n\n\nYou are going to learn: \n\nAdvantages and Benefits of Choosing Optimism over Pessimism\nIn this section\, I will discuss the advantages and benefits of choosing optimism over pessimism. I will also briefly share my personal testimony about a time when a major medical institution told me\, “There is nothing we can do for you\,” essentially indicating there was no hope. It was a moment that required me to make a difficult choice.\nAnalyzing Personal Obstacles to Optimism\nThis section will help participants analyze their past obstacles that may have prevented them from being more optimistic. We will examine past fears\, thought patterns\, and experiences that may have contributed to a less optimistic outlook.\nCreating New Habits for a More Optimistic Future\nIn this section\, I will present information and resources to help participants create new habits that promote change toward a more optimistic and happier future.\n\n \n\nLinda S. Plunkett\, PhD\, is a speaker and author known for her books Living a Positive Life in a Negative World: My Uphill Journey\, which delivers a message of hope and inspiration alongside practical tools\, and Supernatural Rescue: From Broken to Beautiful\, detailing her journey through brain surgery due to a tennis ball-sized tumor in her brain’s frontal lobe\, previously undetected. Additionally\, Linda is a licensed counselor who previously directed the non-profit organization Hope For Hurting.
